We Bought an RV

The Dream

Several years ago Tyler and I started talking about how fun it would be to have a camp trailer. We had been going on tons of adventures all over the place living out of a tent. We had our fare share of leaky roofs, and tents that would blow away in a wind storm even after being staked down. Not to mention our kids are only getting bigger. While we still love tent camping and sleeping under the stars, the idea of a camp trailer and having a “portable home” started to sound really great.

The Researcher

Tyler, my husband is incredible! He is super athletic, very handsome, an amazing father, and a NON-STOP researcher! If he is planning on making a purchase, this man will do ALL the research! I mean he will find the end of the internet researching whatever it is that he is considering buying. I on the other hand like to spend about 5 seconds researching and then I just buy it. While I sometimes can get frustrated at the amount of time he spends researching, I’m usually happy with the end result. So once we decided to look at camp trailers, you can guess what ensued. Tyler researched, and researched and then researched some more!

Decision Making

We talked about what it would be like taking the kids and their buddies on all kinds of adventures in the trailer. We talked about all the different places we would go, and what we would want in a trailer. We looked at old trailers, remodeled trailers, homemade trailers, but none of them were EXACTLY right. You see, Tyler had a list of specific things we needed, plus a specific layout that was going to be perfect. The problem… that camp trailer didn’t exist. So we decided to reevaluate the list and see if there were things we could live without. In the midst of the reevaluation process, Tyler found IT!! He found it you guys! There was ONE camp trailer that checked all the boxes!

The Problem

The problem was, it was in California. Because we live in Oregon we enjoy a life without a state sales tax, so to buy off a lot in California meant we would have to pay some crazy amount in sales tax alone. In order to avoid the sales tax, Tyler worked out a deal to have the trailer shipped to us in Oregon. (He knew this was true since he did the research).

Was it Worth it

I know you are all wondering “if It was worth it?” I can honestly say YES it was totally worth it. Tyler may have researched for eternity, but the camp trailer is perfect! It has everything we need and more, and we LOVE taking it on trips, and so do the kids!
